3. I have no idea what that machine on the counter is. It looks like of like the love child of a toaster oven, a rice cooker, and a hot water bath you'd use in lab. Is it a British thing?
I'm wondering if it's another bit of equipment Sherlock pilfered or bought from a defunct lab somewhere: an autoclave, maybe? (It doesn't look like a standard household appliance, vintage or modern.)
